Managing Consumer Goals and Outcomes

Why can't I update the start date of a goal outcome to the date I want?

Terminology can be modified within SETWorks to better fit the needs of your organization. If the terminology in our articles are not the same on your site, talk to your local administrator to assist in translation.
"Outcomes" and "Goals" are the default names used by SETWorks. Utilities and Privileges will refer to these areas as Outcomes and Goals, but your Implementation director may assist you in re-naming these. Speak with your Implementation director about what terminology is used in your SETWorks so that you are familiar with the terms used. Some common terms:
  1. Outcomes
  2. Goals
  3. Action Steps

Within the consumer profile > goals tab, we understand there are occurrences where you'd want to change the start date of a goal to where it would occur sooner than it currently does (e.g., Change from Nov. 1 to Oct. 1). However, there are safeguards in a place to prevent this from occurring for good reasons. 



Reasons for Prevention of Changing a Start Date

1. Changing the date range for a goal/step/strategy can manipulate what is shown in an Activity Record. For example: If I have an Activity Record for 1/1/2021 against the same authorization that this goal is attached to, if I change this goal date then the data collected in the Activity Record will be moved/deleted/manipulated to reflect my change. 
2. If I were to add a goal to dates that already have Activity Records for this authorization in which this goal is attached to, this will add a goal to the Activity Record. A new goal on an Activity Record has not yet been documented on and therefore, will register as 'Incomplete' documentation. 

NOTE: Refer to the image below. Notice that only January 1st through January 7th are dates in which I can choose to change the date rang of this goal - the rest are grayed out.
     - This is because there are no Activity Records from January 1 - January 7 with documentation on this goal. 
     - The authorization this goal is attached to starts on January 1, therefore, I cannot select a start date earlier than that (December 20th is unavailable). 



Troubleshooting Recommendations 

1. If you need to change a start date to the goal but there is documentation already on that goal, talk to your administration to decide if you can/should remove that Activity Record documentation in order to change the date. 
2. If approved, you can enter into the Activity Record(s) and delete the data for that goal. 
3. Save the Activity Record. 
4. Navigate back to the consumer profile > Goals tab, change the start date on that goal. 
5. Update the goal. 
6. Check your activity records. Double check that your change did not add a goal to any previously completed Activity Records making them incomplete.
