Two settings are needed to enforce the limits on authorizations - one in the privileges and one in the contract and funding source utility. Read this article to learn more.
Terminology can be modified within SETWorks to better fit the needs of your organization. If the terminology in our articles are not the same on your site, talk to your local administrator to assist in translation.
Note: You may only have access to utilities if you are a SET-Works administrator.
Authorization Privileges
Settings > Provider Build > Maintain Privileges > Authorizations:
Disable an authorization if the limit or overall hours are exhausted, if and only if this is set to true and if the corresponding contract also forces the authorization limit to be set. This same setting applies to limits but is broken out for the contract. For this to be set you must have this set to YES as well as the contracts. (Billable Individual Only)

Contract Settings
Next, to verify that contracts are all set to YES (as required in step 4, above), please follow the steps below:
- Once again, click on the Settings gear in the upper right corner, and navigate to the "Provider Build" tab.
- Next, please begin typing and select "Contract / Funding Source / Funding Source Contacts" from the drop down menu.
- Then, in the Funding Source Utility page that opens, click on the first description.
- This will expand the Contracts for that Funding Source.
- Verify that for each description in the Contracts for the selected Funding Source, the check boxes, located to the right, are checked for "If authorization hours are exceeded the authorization is disabled," and "If limits are exceeded for an authorization the authorization is disabled."
- Please complete steps 3–5 for the remaining Funding Source descriptions, and the Authorization limits will be enforced.
Now that SETWorks has been configured to enforce authorization frequency limits, you can now set limits from the Authorization Frequencies & Exceptions section on the Authorization page:
